In Guatemala with Cooperative for Education

In February 2009, I spent a life-changing 10 days in Guatemala with Cooperative for Education, a nonprofit that aims to end the cycle of poverty through education. Founded by brothers Joe and Jeff Berninger in 1996, CoEd sets up sustainable textbook programs in secondary schools. Visit www.coeduc.org for more information.

My connection to CoEd

I'm a freelance writer who first became acquainted with Cooperative for Education in 2008, when I wrote about the co-founders, brothers Joe and Jeff Berninger, for a column I wrote called life@work, about people who found passion in their work. In 2009, I traveled to Guatemala with CoEd. The trip was life-changing, and now I want to share the beauty of Guatemala and the good works of CoEd with others.
